Shooting at Ayala Greenfields

Our company just had its golf tournament in this place and all I can say with upon entering it was “WOW”.  It’s obvious from my reaction its my first time there.

Going to the place is easy if youre not familiar to it. I on the other hand, placed my faith in the guidance from above.  Not from God, silly, but from 3 of the 30-something satellites that make up the GPS system.   Since I wasnt able to get a good map of the place, I went online and scoured for any google earth community entries for Ayala Greenfields. There was one, and since I have a fully routable GPS map of the Phils on my Garmin etrex legend cx, that’s all I ever needed.

It turns out, the road to the golf course isnt part of the whole map system, and the GPS device is telling me to drive somewhere to Los Banos, then to cut a straight line somewhere directly to Ayala Greenfield.  That doesnt look right. There is no road in the Phils that’s straight and long enough to match the airport runways, or a part of NLEX.  So I decided to wake up my old boss from Laguna and he was kind enough to give me the old-school directions via cellphone.  Thanks Ryan.

Upon entering the course I noticed that folks have already lined up their carts at the tee-off area and that the first flight is about to leave.  I came in time. whew.  And so I took all of their tee-shots, all 11 flights before I went off and rent a golf cart for myself.  The result of those golf cart trips (photos) are now posted in my flickr.  As I dont have permission to post their pics online, I only posted a selection of photos.  It was also a good experience to be able to shoot the golfers and they were gamely posing for each shot I took of them.

Next time I’m visiting this place, I’ll be joining them in the game, and not as a photographer.
